Belgacom deploys Oblicore to Enable Phone Number Portability
GERMANTOWN, Md. June 24, 2003 - Real-time process visibility provided by Oblicore Guarantee™ helps Belgacom comply with regulatory requirements while increasing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Oblicore, Inc., a provider of business process monitoring software that helps enterprises close the gap between process goals and actual performance, today announced that Belgacom has successfully deployed Oblicore’s Guarantee™ software to monitor the complex business process of phone number portability. Belgacom is the leading supplier of global telecommunications solutions in Belgium.
Phone number portability is the process by which customers may switch from one phone company to another while retaining the same telephone number. A regulatory requirement in many countries, number portability is often perceived as removing a major barrier to switching carriers. In the US, The Federal Communications Commission is requiring wireless carriers to provide number portability by Nov. 24, 2003.
To comply with regulations, Belgacom is required to complete each individual number portability request within days. As implemented, number portability is a sophisticated 8-step process involving approximately 30 separate systems, all operating under stringent performance requirements.
